About This Place

Norm's Hangar Coffee Shop is a charming breakfast destination nestled at 1615 McKinley Ave in La Verne, California, right beside the bustling Brackett Field Airport. This delightful diner, open since 1983, offers a warm, nostalgic atmosphere that feels like stepping back in time, complete with unique touches such as vintage telephone booths and classic newspaper stands that greet you before entering the cozy dining area.

The culinary focus here is classic American breakfast fare with a comforting, hearty twist. Whether you crave fluffy pancakes drenched in syrup, crispy chicken fried steak, or indulgent waffles like Andy's Belgian Waffle and the vibrant Strawberry Waffle Supreme, Norm’s menu promises satisfying portions that are as generous as they are flavorful. Their Eggs Benedict variations — the traditional Kathy’s Benedict or the California Benedict — stand out with perfectly poached eggs and rich hollandaise, a customer favorite praised for its delightful freshness.

For those seeking savory starts, offerings like Portuguese Sausage and Eggs, Polish Sausage and Two Eggs, along with the classic Bacon and Two Eggs, bring an authentic, mouthwatering experience to the table. If lunch is your preference, the sandwich selection does not disappoint, with items like the hearty Tuna Melt Sandwich, Patty Melt on Grilled Rye, and the ever-popular Wet Burrito and Chili Dishes that balance flavor and comfort impeccably.

One of Norm’s Hangar Coffee Shop’s most unique delights is its location that gives diners panoramic views of private planes gracefully landing and taking off just steps away from your table. Many guests rave about the patio seating — a perfect spot to soak in the sunny California weather, watch the runway activities, and appreciate the peaceful mountain views in the distance. This combination of scenic beauty and delicious food creates an unmatched dining experience.

Patrons consistently mention the warm, friendly service, with some noting that, even on busy mornings, the staff works hard to deliver meals promptly and with a smile. Portions are notably generous, providing excellent value for both early risers and midday diners. For those stopping by after a morning walk or visiting nearby attractions such as Bonelli Park, Norm’s offers a comforting, relaxed environment that feels like a well-kept local secret.

This place is close to the Brackett airport. You can see private planes landing and flying out the runway. After our morning walk the group decided to eat breakfast. We ordered burger, sandwich and omelettes. It was good they served big portions.

I work across the street and been wanting to visit for some time now. Wish I would have sooner. Nice place to grab a bite and watch the planes take off and land. The servers were very friendly but seemed a bit unorganized. It was busy so I’ll give them that. The amount of food for the price is worth the visit.

This is a cute find inside the Brackett Field Airport. We had a California Eggs Bene and a 2 egg breakfast with bacon. There is an additional 50 cent charge per egg but I’m sure that’s in most places right now. Overall, the breakfast was really good. Our server was super sweet and got our breakfast out quickly on a Sunday morning. If you happen to stay at Bonelli RV park, it’s a quick walk on the trail to get there. Open to anyone. I will visit this place again if I’m in the area. Thank you for a great breakfast! They also have an out door patio you can dine in and watch all the air craft come and go.

This restaurant located next to a small airport really is awesome. First off the Best place to sit is on the patio even though there's sitting indoors available. By sitting outside especially this time of the year November it's cool with a Beautiful scenic view of the mountains in a distance plus seeing small prop planes land and take off every few minutes. I had the French Toast with 2 eggs and ham. Food is served Hot n delicious. It's really Great tasting Home cooking. The only small problem with Norm's this day was the outside server who when asked for cream by my friend for her coffee never got it so she got some from another table herself. I know it is not a big thing but, it was a low point in the meal. Overall everything was top notch and I will be back.

Open since 1983 this little diner attached to Brackett Field Airport has some of the best views of any diner that I’ve ever been to. I will say that the food is not very memorable, but the location and experience was. Inside is like stepping into a time capsule. You walk by telephone booths and newspaper stands to get into the restaurant which also looks like it is preserved in the early 1990s. It is attached to a giant free parking lot so parking is very easy and plentiful. Our server was also very nice and everything that we ordered came out pretty fast. We were lucky enough to get a table outside right by the air field and watched many planes take off and land, which was the highlight of our meal. The food itself was so so, but definitely not bad. We started off with a Cinnamon Roll, which was pretty small and not very fluffy but still had some nice flavors. For our breakfast, we chose the Kitchen Sink Omelette, which was good although it wasn’t blended. The omelette was just folded over the meat so every time you would cut into it everything would spill out. Also, there wasn’t much seasoning or flavors. We also ordered the French Toast, which was a bit better and tasted as expected. I really wanted to like the food more because I really like the scenery, but I feel that this place is worth visiting more for the views than the food.

Stopped in on Thursday morning after my doctors appointment. Wanted to get breakfast and this was a short easy drive from my doctors office. Located at the airport the restaurant provides a great opportunity to see general aviation and enjoy yourself while you’re having breakfast or lunch. The restaurant offers seating outside or inside ( prefer outdoor) to watch the flights and outdoors. I had there (2) eggs with bacon and hash browns with white toast. The food arrived quickly and the service was excellent. definitely would come back again.
